Costello Rides For Coming Home Charity In 12 Hour Non-Stop Spinnathon
Motorcycle racer and former World Record holder Maria Costello MBE has teamed up with friend and fitness fanatic Emily Campbell to complete a gruelling 12 hour non-stop spinning challenge for Coming Home, the fundraising campaign for the Forces charity Haig Housing Trust.
The pair will start the challenge on at 0730hrs at the Dallington Racquets and Fitness Club in Northampton* and will be joined every hour by a new spinning instructor and class of spinners, including members of the Northampton Saints Rugby team and the Northampton County Cricket Club.
Emily and Maria will be collecting sponsorship, at the event and online at https://mydonate.bt.com/events/spinnathonmariacostello/56816
Are you up to the challenge?
If you would like to participate, you can book a place in one of the classes by calling the club on 01604 592929. You can join in as many of the classes as you want – your stamina is your only barrier! Request a sponsorship form from the club or by emailing Coming Home at enquiries@haighousingtrust.org.uk. Participation costs £5, payable to the Club and participants are encouraged to collect as much sponsorship money as possible.
If you cannot join in a class, why not go along and support all the others taking part? They are going to need lots of encouragement as they attempt to reach their amazing target!
Coming Home is a campaign very close to their hearts as Emily’s husband Pete previously served in the Army and her sister Hayley is still serving. Maria’s partner Tim is also serving in the RAF. Emily and Pete are also embarking on three International Marathons later this year for Coming Home.
Coming Home aims to raise £20 million over the next five years, to provide specially adapted homes for severely injured and disabled Service people. It works in partnership with other Service charities such as Help for Heroes and ABF, the Soldiers Charity, to ensure that when injured Service people are discharged from the Armed Forces, they have a suitable and stable base from which to start their new lives, following devastating injury.
