Wins For Mitchell And Wainwright as Sim Makes it a Hat-Trick
Stuart Mitchell and Josh Wainwright shared the winner’s laurels in the Michelin Young Guns Trophy class of the Triumph Triple Challenge at Silverstone over the course of the weekend, as Jack Sim managed to take three out of three victories in the TDG Cup category.

 Stuart Mitchell and Josh Wainwright shared the winner’s laurels in the Michelin Young Guns Trophy class of the Triumph Triple Challenge at Silverstone over the course of the weekend, as Jack Sim managed to take three out of three victories in the TDG Cup category. Reading based Mitchell planted his 675 on pole by just over half a second and, after picking up his first win of the weekend in the Superpole race, he was up for the battle again in the first of the two main races when he cross the line in the lead at the end of lap one. By the end of the fourth lap, he had pulled out a gap over just under 10 seconds but disaster struck when he went down at the end of the national straight, gifting the lead to a hard chasing Wainwright. Just behind the youngster, Latvian racer Aleksanders Bekers was riding a fantastic race and took a sensational second place, his first podium result in the UK. Just behind the two Michelin Young Gun chargers, Jack Sim crossed the line to pick up his second win of the weekend, something he would repeat again later in the day. Championship leader Mark Cringle crossed the line fourth on the road, third in the Young Guns class, keeping him in firm contention for the title, with TDG Cup leader Mark Cheetham in fifth. “That was a good result for me but I can’t afford to let Stuart get away that quickly in the second race,” said Wainwright. “I got held up in the first couple of laps and he was gone by then. But the win is good,” he added. “I’m really happy, it’s my first podium result in UK racing and I’d like to try and do it again later,” said Bekers. In the second race, Cringle and Sim both got good starts, but Manxman Cringle struggled with a misting visor on the opening lap and had to slot into third behind Sim and Mitchell. Just a lap later and Mitchell had found his high gear once again and had blasted past Sim and started to once again pull away from the rest of the field. On lap five, Cringle mounted an attack on Sim and moved into second place on the road and set about trying to close the gap to Mitchell. The next lap round and Wainwright had also moved past Sim and was now trying to find a way past the points leader ahead of him with just two laps left to run. On the final lap Josh was given his chance as Cringle got loose in the final chicane and he powered past just as the pair came to the line to take second place. “It’s good to have taken another win,” smiled Mitchell. “It felt really good out there. It was very slippery in places, but I was confident with the bike and it all went ok.” “I felt the bike go as I went into the chicane and once I had gone in I knew I couldn’t get back over the other way for the next part and Josh was right there when it happened,” said Cringle. “There wasn’t anything I could do about it, the circuit was changing in grip all over the place,” he added. In the TDG Cup it was Sim who clinched a clean sweep of the top step over the course of the weekend and he was understandably happy with his speed and results over the weekend. “Everything’s gone really well this weekend. I’ve had some great starts and I the last race when Stuart came past me I thought if I could stay with him then I must be able to keep ahead of the others behind me, but then Mark and Josh appeared so that idea went out of the window! I’m really happy with the whole weekend though, I hope I can do the same again at the next round,” he said. The next round of the series takes place at Cadwell Park in five weeks time.
