Yesterday evening, Thursday may 8th 2008, Alice Team rider, Toni Elias, went to the bike show in Barcelona where he meet his fans at the Motocard stand, Alice Team sponsor in the MotoGP World Championship. The 25 years old, who lives in Manresa, near Barcelona, has signed many autograph for his supporters that used this wonderful opportunity to meet their idol.
Elias was impressed with the amount of people who showed up at the event, declaring: “Unluckily with our work we are always around the world and we never have the opportunity to dedicate some time to our fans. This has been a fantastic opportunity to meet the people from my area, my first supporters. In fact, many fans met today come from Barcelona or the towns nearby. I have to thank Motocard who gave me this opportunity.”
The Catalan rider, has also answered to many questions from the fans.
Question: It seems like things are going better for you after you finished in eighth position in China ?
Toni Elias: “Surely better than the first three races, but we can do much more, sorry, we must do much more. The Team is working good, giving me all necessary to fight with the best. In addition two weeks ago I went to Bologna to speak to Filippo Preziosi, Ducati Corse General Manager. We have spoke a lot. He told me how the Ducati Desmosedici GP8 was built and its main qualities. I really enjoyed it and I gain many useful information to adapt even more to the bike.”
Question: Which are the main differences compare to the bikes you used in the past ?
TE: “Ducati has an incredible engine, in fact in China, where there is the longest straight in MotoGP, our bikes always had the best speed. In the race we have almost reached 340 km/h. I must totally understand how to get the most out of the Ducati Desmosedici GP8 SAT, modifying my riding style, after that things will get better and better.”
Question: In a few weeks you will come here to race, on the Cataluna circuit, do you think you’ll be at the best with the Ducati at that time ?
TE: “I really hope so. First of all we have to work a lot in the next two race in Le Mans and Mugello. I sincerely hope to give the best already in these two races, doing the same in Barcelona as a consequence.”
Question: Where do you think you can finish in the next races ?
TE: “With the potential at our disposal we don’t have any limit. To my point of view we can enter the top five in every Grand Prix. Shanghai has only been the first step forward. We must work hard and soon we can do much better. With my technical director, Fabiano Sterlacchini, we are finding valid solutions to grow. I am really confident in our qualities.”
Question: What do you think about the four riders fight for the MotoGP Title ?
TE: “The level of competitiveness is growing year after year. This season, with the arrival of valid riders from the 250cc category and the Superbike world championship, there can be a different winner at any Grand Prix. I think it is one of the best things for the fans and I believe I can win some races as well soon. I don’t know who will win the championship between Rossi, Stoner, Lorenzo and Pedrosa. I think it’s too early to declare a favourite rider for the final victory.”
