Hudson “Hurricane” Kennaugh and his Carbon Can Company Yamaha team qualified in sixth position at Donington Park ahead of the second round of the Metzeler National Superstock Championship.
“I’m very happy with this result,” grinned Kennaugh “We are getting to where we need to be. I feel we have a good set up for a decent race tomorrow.”
With fifty five riders on track during qualifying it was difficult getting a clear run and avoiding the traffic. The competition is also very close with one second covering the top nine riders. “The field is so close that it is almost as good as being on pole, and I am on the same side of grid as the pole sitter, but I do need a good start,” he explained.
There is a lot of stiff competition out there as Kennaugh admits “Everyone on the front two rows are a worry and BIG competition,” but on the plus side he is enjoying the track, “I really like the circuit, it is one of the best I’ve ridden on and has lot of character. You’ve got to remember it is a proper GP circuit.”
Things are going well and hopefully it will all work to Kennaugh’s advantage, “The team is working well, the improvements in the team is astounding this weekend. The testing has gone a long way to achieve this result, and now I can’t wait for the race. Bring it on!” he concluded. |
