Michael Dunlop is on the island and has announced that he will compete in the TT ‘proper’ and the 125cc and 250cc races to be held at Billown on Saturday June 7th. It was widely expected that he would not ride following on from the tragic death of his father Robert in an accident at the NW200; where Michael won an emotion charged 250cc race just 2 days later. Michael’s brother William, a winner at Billown last year, has already announced that he will no longer compete on pure roads circuits.
Michael was not on the island for the start of practice; but then decided to compete as he believed that his father would have wanted him to do so; especially as he had taken so much time passing on his experience of both circuits to Michael. Michael was intending to compete on just his own 600cc machine on the Mountain Course; but was offered and accepted rides in the larger capacity classes by Phase One; for whom the injured James McBride will be unable to ride.
The news on James is good; he is responding to treatment in Nobles Hospital where he is described as being stable and comfortable; out good wishes for a speedy recovery go to him.
