First qualifying for round two of the Metzeler National Superstock Championship at Donington Park got off to a good start for Hudson Kennaugh and his Carbon Can Company Yamaha Team - he finished in a healthy ninth place. “I’m really happy with the improvement that we have made with the bike. It was a real rush to get all the changes made from this mornings session and to be ready for qualifying,” said Kennaugh “I would have preferred to be eighth as that would have put me second row instead of third, but the track was very busy and I got held up a bit.” Kennaugh and his team opted to do a track day at Donington before coming here to race and track knowledge is really paying off. “Track knowledge is making a big difference this weekend, plus we have been working on set up and that has helped too,” he explained. As ever the British weather is a big concern for the gritty South African and he has admitted that a dry second qualifying is what he is after. “I want a dry Q2 so that I can improve, I want front row. If I get front row I will be disappointed if I am not on pole – that is how close it is out there.” Despite the difficult start The Hurricane had to his season he is back on form this weekend “I feel confident and happy, we just need to keep working and if things go our way it will work out.” Hudson would like to say a big “thank you” to all his fans back in South Africa for their continued support and interest in his career.
