Ducati returned to the International and Motorcycle Show at the NEC in style with one of their most successful Shows ever. With three new models; the Monster 696, the 848 and 1098R, the Ducati stand was bound to draw the crowds.
On the back of the show, over fifty 1098R orders were taken and dealers received a further ten Desmosedici orders during the duration of the show, taking deposits to over 150 for the Desmosedici RR, scheduled to arrive next year to UK customers.
The UK debut of the 848 at the NEC also coincided with Dealer launches and the International Press Launch in Spain. As news of the 848 test in Almeria filtered out proclaiming the new bike to be more than a worthy successor to the 748 and 749, dealers were welcoming customers through the doors to see the stunning white 848 and book their test rides. Although doused by rain most of the weekend, dealers reported strong interest and warned their customers to order the 848 sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment.
Initial interest for the 848 is strong and Ducati UK expect supply to outstrip demand and has already requested extra production from Italy for next year.
Despite growth of over 35% in sales in 2007, Ducati has been able to respond, catching up with demand for the award winning 1098 and Hypermotard ranges and leaving a normal order lead time of 2 – 4 weeks.
A 'storming' 2007 looks likely to continue into next year and shows no sign of slowing and with the debut of the 1098R in British and World Superbikes, the defence of the World MotoGP title by Casey Stoner and new model launches of the Monster 696 and 1098R, 2008 should be a year to look forward to, for Ducatisti everywhere.
