There is nothing like a challenge and that is what Hudson Kennaugh has on his hands this weekend at Magny Cours in France. Not only is he finding his feet in the Supersport class with the Moto-1 Suzuki squad, but he has the GSX-R Cup title at stake as well. In Supersport, Kennaugh qualified in eighteenth place and in the GSX-R Cup he was second fastest it. Plenty of track time as he tells us “I had two sessions on track for the World Supersport and one for the GSX-R Cup. I’m top eighteen in the Supersport and I’m lying second in the GSX-R Cup. Tomorrow I’m looking for more speed on the Supersport machine, today has lead me to believe that I need some set up changes. We are starting to go somewhere now and it’s better than Imola, I’m six positions up from where I was then. I’m pretty happy with the Cup as well but we have a bit of a saga unfolding with the Cup.” The situation with the Cup is very interesting as the top three riders are all very close, so a decision has been taken by the organisers that whoever wins on Sunday takes the title. So after a season long Championship battle, it all comes down to one race. “There are nine points between the top three, five between me and first and four points back to third. The decision has been made that whoever wins on Sunday, whether is it a tie or not, will be the winner of the championship. So it all boils down to a one off race, all or nothing balls out!” grinned Hudson. The pace in the GSX-R Cup has hotted up for the grand finale “The under dog (David Salon who is third in the Championship) has come up and put it on pole for now and we are matching the top Supersport times, he’d be sixteenth and I’d be seventeenth and that is better than I’m doing on the Supersport machine, and I’m on a standard 750cc. We really are going on those bikes, the level is very high amongst the top five or six and it is all coming down to Sunday. I’m hoping for a good day tomorrow, and more track time with Supersport practice.” On the Supersport front Kennaugh reckons it is going to be tough “It’s going to be elbow to elbow stuff, it’s going to be crazy into the hairpin you can imagine its carnage. I had Yamaha stickers on my Suzuki after three corners at Imola. Every track is different and the Suzukis seem to be good round here, it’s a Suzuki track where as Imola wasn’t. Tomorrow I need to find a second in Supersport, that is down to me and my confidence coming up, after that it is going to be difficult. GSX-R Cup, its all to play for can’t make any mistakes thirteen laps on Sunday, all or nothing.” World Supersport - Magny Cours 1st Qualifying 1 - Fabrizio Michel - Italia Megabike - Honda CBR 600RR - 1'44.113 2 - Curtain Kevin - Yamaha Motor Germany - Yamaha YZF R6 - 1'44.177 3 - Foret Fabien - Team Megabike - Honda CBR 600RR - 1'44.311 4 - Parkes Broc - Yamaha Motor Germany - Yamaha YZF R6 - 1'44.770 5 - Fores Javi - Alstare Suzuki Corona Extra - Suzuki GSX 600R - 1'45.027 6 - Nannelli Gianluca - Ducati SC Caracchi - Ducati 749 R - 1'45.079 7 - Fujiwara Katsuaki - Winston Ten Kate Honda - Honda CBR 600RR - 1'45.099 8 - Chambon Stéphane - Gil Motor Sport - Honda CBR 600RR - 1'45.327 9 - Vos Arie - Winston Ten Kate Honda - Honda CBR 600RR - 1'45.378 10 - Stigefelt Johan - Stiggy Motorsports - Honda CBR 600RR - 1'45.454 11 - Harms Robbin - Stiggy Motorsports - Honda CBR 600RR - 1'45.555 12 - Lagrive Matthieu - Moto 1 - Suzuki - Suzuki GSX 600R - 1'45.581 13 - Lauslehto Tatu - Klaffi Honda - Honda CBR 600RR - 1'45.746 14 - Janssen Jarno - Suzuki Nederland - Suzuki GSX 600R - 1'46.031 15 - Canepa Niccolò - Lightspeed Kawasaki - Kawasaki ZX 6RR - 1'46.191 16 - Zaiser Christian - Intermoto Czech Republic - Honda CBR 600RR - 1'46.197 17 - Corradi Alessio - Ducati Selmat - Ducati 749 R - 1'46.560 * 18 - KENNAUGH HUDSON - Moto 1 - Suzuki - Suzuki GSX 600R - 1'47.235 * 19 - Chaemsap Suhathai - Intermoto Czech Republic - Honda CBR 600RR - 1'47.650 20 - Goi Ivan - Bike Service - Yamaha YZF R6 - 1'47.792 21 - Penna Sami - Ajo Promotion - Honda CBR 600RR - 1'48.271 22 - Haarala Topi - Ajo Motorsport - Honda CBR 600RR - 1'48.421 23 - Forner Garcia - Alapont Competition - Honda CBR 600RR - 1'48.872 24 - Enjolras Julien - Tati Team Beaujolais Racing - Yamaha YZF R6 - 1'48.898 25 - Metro Thomas - Team Moto Vitesse Réunion - Suzuki GSX 600R - 1'49.211 26 - Hurtado R.
