Glen Richards set about the task of securing the British Supersport title at Croft with aplomb, fighting back to claim victory after a red-flag interrupted race (14 September). Stealing the holeshot from Raceways Yamaha’s Hudson Kennaugh, the veteran Australian rider led the field for the opening six laps until the deployment of the red flag due to an incident involving Ashley Beech. With the first part of the race declared at five laps, the restart would see competitors fight it out over a reduced 10 lap dash. With it all do do again, Glen Richards moved two places to his left to occupy pole on the restart. This time, Ian Lowry on the Relentless by TAZ Suzuki made the early running, with Glen Richards and Centurion Racing’s James Westmoreland tucked in behind. The pace was instantly quicker than the opening part of the race, and new lap records were quickly set and broken as Richards looked to close the gap to Lowry. The opportunity finally came for the MAP Embassy Triumph rider on lap 6. Lowry looked to regain lost ground, but pushing too hard at the Complex the following lap, Lowry crashed out of the race and the points. James Westmoreland checked over his shoulder to see a healthy strip of tarmac between himself and third placed Hudson Kennuagh, and settled for his second runner-up spot in three meetings. Hudson Kennaugh rounded out the podium, taking the flag just ahead of James Webb on the Padgetts Honda. Glen Richards extends his championship lead, and will look to wrap up the title at round 11, Silverstone, in two weeks time (26-28 September.) Glen Richards, Race Winner: “I thought I had it all sewn up until I saw the red flag. It was hard to have to do it all again. Lowry was running well but I knew i could run at his pace. Once he’d made the mistake i just kept my head down and headed for the line. A big thanks to all my crew at MAP Embassy, and to Pirelli.” British Supersport – Croft Race Result Pos - Rider – Bike - Team - Time 1 - Glen Richards - Triumph - MAP Embassy Racing - 13:49.030 2 - James Westmoreland - Honda - Centurion Racing - 13:50.657 3 - Hudson Kennaugh - Yamaha - Raceways Yamaha - 13:52.175 4 - James Webb - Honda - Padgetts Motorcycles - 13:55.110 5 - Paul Young - Triumph - MAP Embassy Racing - 13:55.607 6 - Marty Nutt - Yamaha - Nutt Travel / T+G - 13:59.019 7 - Pete Spalding - Yamaha - Linxcel / Seton Tuning - 14:01.056 8 - Joe Dickinson - Yamaha - Trucklinks Yamaha - 14:01.264 9 - Chris Martin - Kawasaki - Gearlink Kawasaki - 14:04.094 10 - Jack Kennedy - Yamaha - Rob Mac Proride - 14:06.252 11 - Craig Fitzpatrick - Yamaha - BLDS Couriers - 14:06.434 12 - John McGuinness - Honda - Padgetts Batley Ltd - 14:06.951 13 - Andy Weymouth - Yamaha - Linxcel / Seton Tuning - 14:07.331 14 - BJ Toal - Yamaha - Virgin Media Yamaha - 14:08.892 15 - Daniel Cooper - Honda - Centurion Racing - 14:09.107 16 - Steven Neate - Kawasaki - Gearlink Kawasaki - 14:12.612 17 - Alex Lowes - Kawasaki - Gearlink Kawasaki - 14:16.073 18 - Ben Wylie - Yamaha - Wylie & Holland Racing - 14:16.374 19 - Dean Hipwell - Yamaha - Atherton Godfrey Solicitors - 14:17.499 20 - Aaron Walker - Honda - TJW Racing - 14:18.399 21 - Ronan Quarmby - Yamaha - Raceways Yamaha - 14:20.370 22 - Ben Handley - Honda - N&B Services - 14:20.880 23 - James Hillier - Suzuki - JMH Racing/Jackson Racing - 14:21.180 24 - Paul Veazey - Yamaha - Storm Motorsport - 14:23.667 25 - David Hallett - Triumph - Ross Aldridge Racing - 14:24.904 26 - Jenny Tinmouth - Honda - JennyTinmouth.com/Hollins M'spor - 14:27.732 27 - Conor O'Brien - Honda - Arkwood Honda - 14:28.057 28 - Craig Sproston - Honda - CS Racing - 14:28.881 29 - Ross Walter - Triumph - Interserve Racing - 14:29.220 30 - Adam Tempest - Triumph - Slippery Sam Racing - 14:36.528 Not Classified DNF - Ian Lowry - Suzuki - Relentless Suzuki by TAS - 8:18.982 DNF - Conor Cummins - Yamaha - AIM Racing - 5:47.260 Championship Points 1 - Glen Richards - 202 2 - Hudson Kennaugh - 156 3 - Ian Lowry - 148 4 - J Westmoreland - 92 5 - Steve Brogan - 85 6 - Chris Martin - 83 7 - James Webb - 74 8 - Steve Plater - 70 9 - Rob Frost - 52 10 - Paul Young - 48
