Glen Richards powered away from his fourth pole position, followed by Chris Martin, Paul Young and James Webb. However, a first corner incident involving James Dye and David Paton saw the race instantly red-flagged as circuit staff administered medical attention. After a substantial interval to allow the air ambulances in to remove the riders from the circuit by air ambulance that needed hospital attention, a rescheduled distance of 14 laps was called by Race Control. Hudson Kennaugh got the bit between his teeth from the lights, leading the 34 riders through the opening four laps. Steve Plater, Glen Richards and James Webb completed the the breakaway group at the compact and intimate 2.18 mile Lincolnshire circuit. An error by Kennuagh on lap 5 allowed Plater through for the lead, swiftly followed through on the South African by Richards and Webb over successive laps. As the front three began to drop the South African Raceways Yamaha rider, Plater and Richards continued to swap paint and places before Richards settled in for the lead. However, Plater was not about to settle for the bridesmaid position. Utilising local track knowledge, the AIM Yamaha rider completed the perfect passing manoeuvre into Park on the final lap to hold the lead at the chequered flag. Glen Richards will maintain his front position as the series moves to Croft in North Yorkshire for round ten in three weeks time (12-14 September).
