Glen Richards secured only his second victory of the campaign as he pipped Hudson Kennaugh to the post for the second meeting at Oulton Park this season (20 July). Kennaugh led from the lights in an attempt to recreate his amazing demolition of the chasing field at Mallory Park. However, Richards had other ideas. The Australian sat on the heels of the Kennaugh until lap ten, when he made the decisive move into Old Hall at the start of the lap. Richards instantly pulled a half second gap to the South African Raceways Yamaha rider, confident of securing the win that would extend his championship lead. Behind the leading duo, Chris Martin and Ian Lowry battled heroically for 13 laps, until Lowry finally made the break for home on lap 13 with a text book Oulton Park manoeuvre into Hizzy’s. Kennaugh attempted to retaliate on the penultimate lap, but Richards’ MAP Embassy Triumph proved too strong. Richards edged a gap just too wide for Kennaugh to make a decisive pass over the closing corners, taking the chequered flag by just two tenths of a second. Relentless Suzuki by TAS rider, Ian Lowry rounded out the podium to make it a mirror of the first visit to the undulating Cheshire circuit back in May. With a number of the grid looking to cut their teeth on the world stage at Brands Hatch in two weeks time, the battle for the Supersport championship continues at Knockhill in Scotland over the weekend of 8-10 August. Glen Richards: “That was another cracking race. Hudson had great pace but I knew that if I could make the pass I had enough to keep the lead for the win. The boys at MAP Embassy have worked really hard all season, so I’m glad that I have repaid them with another win.” British Supersport - Oulton Park Race Result Pos - Rider - Bike - Team - Time 1 - Glen Richards - Triumph - MAP Embassy Racing - 26:41.431 2 - Hudson Kennaugh - Yamaha - Raceways Yamaha - 26:41.629 3 - Ian Lowry - Suzuki - Relentless Suzuki by TAS - 26:44.730 4 - Chris Martin - Kawasaki - Gearlink Kawasaki - 26:47.751 5 - James Webb - Honda - Padgetts Motorcycles - 27:00.912 6 - James Westmoreland - Honda - Centurion Racing - 27:01.030 7 - Daniel Cooper - Honda - Centurion Racing - 27:09.218 8 - Rob Frost - Triumph - Team Buff - 27:09.400 9 - Ben Wylie - Yamaha - Wylie & Holland Racing - 27:15.814 10 - Sam Owens - Honda - Premier Motorsport - 27:16.245 11 - Ian Hutchinson - Yamaha - AIM Racing - 27:16.779 12 - Joe Dickinson - Yamaha - Trucklinks Yamaha - 27:16.906 13 - Craig Fitzpatrick - Yamaha - BLDS Couriers - 27:17.564 14 - Steven Neate - Kawasaki - Gearlink Kawasaki - 27:17.668 15 - Aaron Walker - Honda - TJW Racing - 27:18.221 16 - John McGuinness - Honda - Padgetts Batley Ltd - 27:32.230 17 - Ronan Quarmby - Yamaha - Raceways Yamaha - 27:36.209 18 - Mark Pollock - Honda - Arkwood / MP Honda - 27:36.815 19 - James Hillier - Kawasaki - JMH Raciing - 27:37.271 20 - Ashley Beech - Yamaha - Colin Appleyard / Macadam R'g - 27:44.614 21 - Pete Spalding - Yamaha - Linxcel / Seton Tuning - 27:45.205 22 - Dean Hipwell - Yamaha - Atherton Godfrey Solicitors - 27:45.509 23 - Ross Walter - Triumph - Interserve Racing - 27:52.250 24 - David Hallett - Triumph - TCG Motorsport - 27:57.382 25 - Ben Handley - Honda - AZ1 Racing - 28:08.014 26 - Adam Tempest - Triumph - Slippery Sam Racing - 28:08.424 27 - Jenny Tinmouth - Honda - JennyTinmouth.com/Hollins M'spor - 28:08.863 28 - Marcus Wade - Triumph - Wade Racing - 28:09.235 29 - Craig Sproston - Honda - CS Racing - 28:11.819 30 - James Dye - Triumph - Team Buff - 28:16.131 31 - Dijon Compton - Kawasaki - Astro Racing Kawasaki - 27:00.217 32 - Jonathan Harrison - Yamaha - Harrison Bros Racing - 27:03.358 33 - Alan Percival - Yamaha - Splat Racing - 27:18.650 Not Classified DNF - Andy Weymouth - Yamaha - Linxcel / Seton Tuning - 18:59.658 DNF - Paul Young - Triumph - MAP Embassy Racing - 16:55.952 DNF - Alistair Fagan - Triumph - JHS Racing - 18:14.369 DNF - Jack Kennedy - Honda - Team MFC Racing - 13:57.036 DNF - Steve Plater - Yamaha - AIM Racing - 5:06.049 DNF - Steve Brogan - Honda - HM Plant Honda - 2:14.090 British Supersport Championship Points Pos - Rider - Time 1 - Glen Richards - 141 2 - Hudson Kennaugh - 116 3 - Ian Lowry - 95 4 - Steve Brogan - 75 5 - J Westmoreland - 61 6 - Chris Martin - 61 7 - Steve Plater - 45 8 - Ian Hutchinson - 42 9 - BJ Toal - 40 10 - Craig Fitzpatrick - 34
