Race One Max Biaggi on the Alstare Corona Extra Suzuki has picked up the first race win of the day at Vallelunga in Italy. Troy Bayliss was the second man home on board his Xerox Ducati with James Toseland on the Hannspree Ten Kate Honda in third place. Noriyuki Haga had to settle for fourth place following a late charge from Toseland to push his main title rival back to a non podium finish. Michel Fabrizio on the DFX Treme Honda had a solid race finishing in fifth place once again ahead of Lorenzo Lanzi on the Xerox Ducati who he will be replacing next season. Regis Laconi and Fonsi Nieto both had an impressive race on their PSG-1 Kawasaki’s finishing in seventh and eight respectively. Shinichi Nakatomi also picked up a top ten finish in ninth place and Vittorio Iannuzzo completed the top ten on his Sterilgarda Ducati. With Biaggi winning his points haul now stands at 347 the same as Haga, leaving him in joint second in the championship. Troy Corser and Ruben Xaus both crashed out of the race early on. Race Two Troy Bayliss took an awesome race win at Vallelunga on his Xerox Ducati. He really wanted the win and was exhausted at the end of the arduous 24 lapper. Second place went to local rider Max Biaggi on the Alstare Corona Extra Suzuki. He had hoped to take a double win for his home crowd but he was unsettled by the large amount of dust on track which was laid down over an oil spilage. Noriyuki Haga on the Yamaha Italia took third place from his team-mate Troy Corser who was in fourth. Roberto Rolfo on the Hannspree Ten Kate Honda finished in fifth place while his team-mate and Championship leader, James Toseland crashed out of fourth place. He did manage to pick the bike up and restart to come home in 11th place, but it wasn’t the result that he wanted. Ruben Xaus who had a coming together off the line with Corser finished in sixth place, ahead of Xerox Ducati’s Lorenzo Lanzi. The first Kawasaki home was that of Fonsi Nieto in eighth place as Regis Laconi crashed out. Shinichi Nakatomi continued his top ten run finishing ninth and Max Neukirchner completed the top ten in tenth place.
