2005 -
MARIA MADE HISTORY BY BECOMING THE FIRST FEMALE
SOLO RACER TO GET ON THE PODIUM AT THE ISLE OF
MAN MANX GP. |

- Maria made history books
once again at the Isle of Man when she took
third place in the Ultra Lightweight
category of the 2005 Manx GP. On board an
RLR Motorsports Honda RVF400, provided by
Tim Bradley, Maria became the first ever
woman to take a podium finish in either a TT
or Manx GP.

- In her debut appearance
at the Irish Road Race Maria was the third
400 to cross the finishing line onboard the
RLR Motorsports Honda RVF400. Placing her,
in the joint 125cc/400cc race, 7th overall.
She also raced in both 600cc classes on her
Bering Honda CBR600RR.

RECORD in the process. |

Maria was beaten by only seven men in the
premier race of the event. Finishing the
Senior in 8th place out of over 80 male
competitors was an awesome achievement as
she competed with her collarbone still
broken. The first three to take the podium
broke the outright MGP lap record.

- Maria became the outright
fastest woman to lap the tt course. On the
standing start lap of the TT Production 1000
race she average a speed of 114.73mph
placing her at the top of women's list in
the events history books. Unbeknown to Maria
she achieved this record with a broken
collarbone, which she thought had healed.
Due to mechanical failure she was forced to
retire from the race.

FASTEST WOMAN EVER AT MANX GRAND PRIX

- Tony Scott Tuning/Noel
Clegg Motorcycles Honda CBR600RR.
- A standing start lap of
113.52mph eclipsed Maria's existing TT
course personal best and left her just 11
seconds outside the Guinness World Record of
fastest female lap record.
- Her sterling performance
saw her collect a silver replica with her
fantastic 15th place in the Senior Race.

- It was a TT to remember
for all the wrong reasons, the death of the
Man Mountain - David Jefferies cast a black
shadow over the entire event, Maria Costello
had not only lost her TT mentor but a close
friend.
- The fog caused havoc in
the 600 production race, with a four hour
delay and shortened to two laps.

- Invited to race in the
Fred Beecroft Memorial Race by the late Fred
Beecroft's daughter, Maria used Guy Martin's
Suzuki GSXR600 for her one and only short
circuit meeting of 2003.
- Enjoyed competing against
the British Supersport Champion, Karl
Harris, in the Supersport race.

getting into the Guinness Book of Records.
Maria Costello has officially become the
fastest woman at the Manx Grand Prix and is
the overall second fastest woman to have
lapped the TT course. Her fastest lap of
110.25mph.

Silver Replica. Senior Race - 23rd Silver
Replica.
- Lesley Ann Trophy - Best
performance by a female racer at the Manx
GP.

disaster as another rider clipped Maria at
