2004 is a year James Toseland will never forget as he became the youngest-ever winner of the World Superbike championship thanks to an incredible final part of the season, with two wins and three seconds in the last six races, which allowed him to conquer the World Title in the last round at Magny-Cours.

But at the beginning of his career, the Sheffield born talent, started in trials and motocross which made him conquer many trophies and awards. Later on in his career, he decided to begin a new adventure in road racing which brought him to conquer his first trophy in the CB500 Cup. With great determination, at the age of 16, James took part at the British Supersport championship finishing in third place overall.

In 1998 he joined the Castrol Honda Team in the World Supersport Championship riding for two consecutive year the powerful CBR600. 2000 saw his return in his country to fight in the national Superbike Championship. Things went well trough the season even if James was injured for almost half of the season. The following year he rejoined the World Superbike Championship and finished in 2001 in thirteenth place overall.
Thanks to his determination in 2002 he became one of the top riders making to step for the first time ever on the podium at Assen, while in following year he won in Oschersleben and earned his first pole position in the final round at Magny-Cours. 2004 has been the season which simply confirmed Toseland’s qualities while in 2005 he finished in fourth place overall.

A new adventure for James is about to begin in 2006 by stepping for the first time ever on the CBR1000 of the Winston Ten Kate Honda Team which ended the past season in second place overall.

“Everything is new for me this year”, said James, “from the team to the bike. I will need to learn the secret of the CBR as quickly as possible to be competitive from the very beginning. This is a big change but I accepted the challenge and I am ready for it. If everything goes in the right direction, I’ll be able to compete with the fastest riders in the races and fight for the final victory. I’ve worked really hard during the winter break and I’m looking forward to this new adventure.”
