Fast, Furious And Finally On DVD

Buy your copy here - Narrow Edge (DVD)

Duke, the world leader in motorsport on DVD, has delved into its unrivalled film archives and discovered some real gems which will delight bike fans new and old.

The three brand new DVDs are packed with classic footage of some of the greatest Grand Prix riders in history locked in elbow-to-elbow competition. Never previously available DVD, each title is a must-have for any fan.

Fast Freddie charts the early racing years of the man who’d go on to become one of the true legends of motorcycle racing. The DVD features three films – Fast Freddie, Daytona Superbikes and Goin’ For It – capturing Freddie Spencer in Stateside action. In each, the sublime skills and dogged determination which would make him a household name are clear to see – when you watch these films its clear Spencer was destined for greatness.

From the classic Daytona 200, where Spencer on the Honda FWS V-4 diced with Kenny Roberts on the works Yamaha OW54, to the American Superbike Championship round which saw Spencer in an all-out dogfight with Eddie Lawson – this DVD has it all. Experience the incredible thrill of Spencer and Roberts just inches apart at over 180mph on the Daytona banking and study the unbelievable skills of America’s Superbike kings as they casually drift their 120bhp-machines. Plus, there’s breathtaking on-board footage letting you see Daytona at racing speed from the rider’s-eye view!

Some of the moments captured in this footage are simply breathtaking, like Spencer remounting just seconds after a high-speed crash in the rain, or taking time at racing pace to warn a teammate of tyre problems.

Narrow Edge is a truly exceptional motorsport film. It follows the classic 1974 season of Grand Prix motorcycle racing, featuring legendary names like Giacomo Agostini, Phil Read, Barry Sheene and Kenny Roberts.

Narrow Edge stands apart from other season reviews, setting new standards for motorsport filmmaking and winning Europe-wide awards for producer David Wood. It has stood the test of time and remains a unique record of a fascinating year.

The film features the story of the multi-World Champion Agostini’s switch from the MV team to the two-stroke Yamahas for the first time. After a dramatic year of hard-fought competition, Read would secure the 500cc title for MV Agusta in what was intended to be the final year the Italian marque would field a works team. It was the perfect end to an era of amazing success for the howling MVs.

From Daytona, Florida, to Imatra, Finland, this DVD treats fans to tremendous racing between Ago and former teammates Read and Gianfranco Bonera. Plus, there is the emergence of an exciting new talent in the shape of Barry Sheene. There’s also a chance to watch Ago’s stable mate Teppi Lansivouri in action, and see Kenny Roberts in his very first GP, riding a 250cc Yamaha.

While the racing is enthralling, many fans will be delighted by the footage of Ago away from the circuit, allowing a level of access to a superstar at the height of his power unparalleled in the modern era.

Narrow Edge remains a standard-setting motorsport film, as well as a unique insight into the life of a true legend and an exceptional Grand Prix season.

The third of this must-have trio of DVDs is the 2-disc Transatlantic Challenge. This collection brings you four fantastic years of the Transatlantic Challenge, featuring the US of America’s best riders racing against the greatest from Britain and the Commonwealth. Each meeting is a star-studded festival of speed, with the biggest names competing on a variety of machines at two of Britain’s best circuits – Donington and Brands Hatch.

These meetings really were the ultimate Superstar Showdowns, featuring the likes of Barry Sheene, Kenny Roberts, Ron Haslam, Freddie Spencer, Wayne Rainey, Kevin Schwantz, Wayne Gardner, Randy Mamola and more going head-to-head, and elbow-to-elbow, in some of the closest and most action-packed competition ever caught on camera.

This DVD brings together four classic years, 1984-87, and is filled with awesome footage – including Haslam being catapulted from his Honda and a thrilling on-board lap courtesy of Fast Freddie.

No collection of classic bike racing is complete without each of these classic titles.
