Name: Tristan Palmer
Series: British Superbike
Team: Tena For Men Honda
Tristan Palmer, 25, is from New Arley, Warwickshire. Tris will represent the TENA For Men Honda (TFMH) Super Bike team in the main British Super Bike Championship 2008. TFMH launches from the embers of Team Howarth Racing which featured privateer Michael Howarth during the 2007 privateer series. Michael spectacularly crashed and shattered his leg whilst qualifying at Brands early on in the 2007 season. Whilst sidelined, the team quickly found a replacement in Tristan Palmer, 25, who flew back from Daytona after competing in the AMA Superbike series.
Tristan ended up cruising the privateer title after an immaculate series of rides taking the British Superbike Cup with 426 points, 53 points clear of nearest rival James Buckingham.
Tris is one of the few riders to have competed in both the AMA and British Superbike championships. Tris dreamed from a tender age of mixing with the ‘big boys’ of British Superbikes. In fact he started training at the age of 6 when he started Motorcross competitions! He entered his first road race aged 14, and won his first victory in 1997 when he won the Three Sisters. Since 1998 he’s risen steadily through the ranks, and he can’t wait to get on the new TENA For Men Honda CBR 1000 RR Fireblade for the first race of the 2008 season.
Key Dates:
2005 – 4th position in BSB Superstock Championship 2006 – AMA Superstock Championship, USA – riding for Suzuki GB 2007 – BSB Cup Championship (riding for Team Howard Racing)
Tris’s Hobbies: Tris is never far from bikes: He works at a classic bike shop in the West Midlands, and is often to be seen astride his prize possession, his motorcross bike. He also enjoys his mountain bike, and angling. His favourite place to spend time, other than the track, is his bed. Apparently. |
